My name is Abby. I was adopted as a baby with my older sister. It has been over 30 years since that life changing decision my parents made to adopt. I feel blessed and honored to call them my parents. I am not saying it was a perfect family or a perfect life. I had a happy childhood and have become a happy adult. Yes, along the road of life we had our ups and downs struggles and learning experiences for us all. I do believe that being adopted you have some different views and challenges. I am not saying that the challenges are exclusive to people that have been adopted.

I look forward to sharing my and others thoughts, experiences, struggles of being adopted. Everyone will have different adoption experiences, journeys, thoughts, and struggles. It does not mean one person is right or wrong. It just means that we have different ideas and experiences.

My husband and I have also been blessed with the opportunity to adopt three children, in addition to our bio daughter. Being an adoptive mother is a bonus as an adoptee for me. I hope I can be a better adoptive mother by starting my children’s journey with being adopted. You will get to know my four children as time goes on since being an adoptee had an impact on my journey to becoming a mother. To be honest I had a lot of feelings to deal with when I became a mother myself.

Welcome Abby! I look forward to reading about your experiences as an adoptee. I think adoptive parents can learn much from adoptees' life experiences.

I am also an reunited adoptee who has given birth and has adopted one son and in the process of adopting a sibling set of three girls. I love both my moms and I explain it to my son who is old enough to understand that I have a mom and a mommy. My mommy took care of me when I was sick and cry with me during times of sadness and happy times. My adoptive parents were very dsyfunctional. My parents adopted 10 kids. I am very open with my kids about birth and adoptive family as I have both. Unfortuantely, I was not able to meet my children's birthmom. Dad I am happy not to meet. Open and honest is the best approach. I hope we all can meet one day. We have many friends with adoptive kids as well as biological. Adoption is more accepted then when I was adopted (60's). It's a beautiful thing and we feel lucky to have all my kids.
