With things being so crazy around here, and dealing with trouble sleeping, I read a book which I do not get the opportunity to do often. What was truly great was that it was a book on adoption and it is in my opinion, a true insight of a life of an adoptee. It is a very well written book with the amazing actual view of most adoptions from the view of the adoptee and the adoptive family. This book is about an adoptee that is content with being adopted and the relationships built through adoption.
The book covered the perspective of the adoptees, adoptive parents and other adoptive family members. In my mind this was a very typical view and thoughts of an adoptee, based on my experience and other adoptees I know. It covers the struggles that adoptive families go through. It shares how some of (mostly) the outside world views adoption while leaving the adoptive family the enormous challenge of trying to get others to understand adoption.
You will find yourself sharing the struggles, pain, prejudice, and love through adoption along with an adoptee in his adoption journey. It shares the experiences and heartbreak of adoptive parents trying to have others understand and receive their adopted children as their dearly loved children, not just seen as adopted.
It talks of how adoptees face laws that are unjust and a slap in the face. It shares the truth that adoptees want rights just as biological children have. It also shows a look into a kinship adoption and the journey. It will show you how wonderful love through adoption is with an adoptive family’s story. Warning; you may need to have a box of tissues close by.
If you are looking for a great fiction book about adoption and the journey of the entire adoptive family, this book is worth your time.
